Free U.S. Citizenship Exam Preparation Classes

EAST ORANGE, NJ - Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest NJ (JVS) has received a competitive $250,000 two-year grant from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The grant allows JVS and their partner, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, to help legal permanent residents prepare and apply for U.S. citizenship through free instruction and naturalization services. JVS has developed a curriculum that focuses on all aspects of the citizenship exam and interview, while Catholic Charities provides legal assistance in completing the N-400 Application for Naturalization.

Young U.S. immigrants mobilize as Trump threatens to end ‘dreamers’ program

PHOENIX—U.S. President Donald Trump is facing increasing pressure from CEOs, Roman Catholic bishops, celebrities and a national mobilization effort as he weighs eliminating an Obama-era program that shields young immigrants from deportation.

The last-ditch effort has taken on greater urgency in recent days amid reports that the White House may end the program. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that Trump would announce the decision Tuesday.

Trump requirements for H1B and L1 US visa holders mean mandatory face to face interviews for US Green Cards

The L1 and H1B are both dual intent visas, which means visa holders can work in the US while applying for permanent residence. L1 visa holders who have worked for the business outside the US for one year in the last three years as an executive or manager are likely to apply for a Green Card through the EB1C immigrant scheme as an international executive or manager.  , H1B visa holders are more likely to come under the EB2 Green Card or EB3 Green Card visa routes.

Immigrants with old deportation orders arrested at check-ins across US

LOS ANGELES — For years, immigrants facing deportation have been allowed to stay in the U.S. provided they show up for regular check-ins with federal deportation agents and stay out of trouble. After a brief meeting, they're usually told to return months later to check in again.

EU Considers Rescinding Visa Waiver Program for U.S. Citizens

Lawmakers in Europe have again debated halting the visa waiver program for Americans until "full reciprocity" is reached but are pondering potential tourism losses.

Lawmakers in the European Union are considering a measure that would require Americans visiting member countries in the summer of 2017 to apply for holiday visas in lieu of waivers.
